Written by Colin Dixon | 17 Jun 21

Jade ThirdEye are excited to be a part of ACAMS’ first AML & Anti-Financial Crime Conference, Australasia and are looking forward to kicking off the event with a keynote address from Dr. Nathan Newman, National Manager, Regulatory Operations, AUSTRAC.

And, just in time for the inaugural ACAMS Conference, AUSTRAC have released new guidance to help you implement the AML/CTF reforms that came into effect on 17 June 2021.

According to AUSTRAC “the reforms clarify obligations regarding customer due diligence before providing a designated service, involve changes to strengthen the protections for correspondent banking relationships, expand the circumstances in which reporting entities can rely on a third party for customer identification and verification, and expand the exceptions to the prohibition of tipping off.”

Yesterday, they also released new guidance that will help you to implement these changes, including detailed online regulatory guides and downloadable quick guides (available here).

The inaugural ACAMS Australasia conference covers topics and themes which speak to the key challenges and issues facing practitioners today including new typologies in terrorist financing and developments in sanctions compliance, using technology to accelerate your AML/CTF programmes, as well as case studies and stories that help us to remember how our daily work impacts real human and animal lives.

If you're at the conference make sure to swing by our stand to say hi and have a go at our putting mat. For each hole-in-one you sink we are donating cans of food to Foodbank to help support vulnerable Australians.
