AI is everywhere, and financial crime is no exception

This roundtable cuts through the noise. Rather than exploring AI capabilities in the abstract, we focus on the practical implications – for your team, your organisation and your role – so you can move forward with confidence, not just curiosity.

From transaction monitoring to suspicious activity detection, AI is rapidly changing how compliance teams work. But the conversation has too often focused on what AI can do, rather than what it means for the people who rely on it.

Compliance professionals are already feeling the pressure: the promise of efficiency, the fear of irrelevance, the uncertainty around data security, and questions about whether AI-driven decisions will hold up under regulatory scrutiny.

What we’ll explore
These questions are designed to provoke honest discussion, not provide easy answers:

  • Does AI reduce analyst workload, or does it simply shift it? What skills will your team need to stay effective?
  • Where does human judgement remain irreplaceable, and what happens when we remove it from the loop?
  • AI vs rules-based transaction monitoring: replacement, complement, or distraction?
  • What are the data security and privacy implications of deploying AI in your financial crime environment?
  • Are there legal or regulatory risks in relying on AI for decisions that must be defensible to a regulator?
  • Is AI already being used to facilitate financial crime, and do we need it to fight back?

What you’ll take away
Participants leave with more than perspectives, they leave with a clearer picture of what to do next:

  • A realistic view of how AI adoption is reshaping financial crime team structures, workloads, and analyst roles across the industry
  • Clarity on where humans remain critical, and how to make that case internally when pressure to automate is mounting.
  • Practical insight into the legal, privacy, and data considerations your organisation must address before implementing any AI solution.
  • An honest view of how peers are navigating AI adoption, what’s working, what’s not, and what they wish they’d known.
  • Confidence to bring a more informed, risk-aware perspective back to your team and your executive stakeholders.
