Dan is an intelligence practitioner and leader with 20 years’ experience across numerous intelligence disciplines in the New Zealand Army/Ngāti Tūmatauenga and other agencies. Since transitioning in 2022, he has held senior public sector roles, including leading MBIE’s response to Cyclone Gabrielle. As Head of the NZ Financial Intelligence Unit since mid-2023, Dan oversees capability enhancement aligned with FATF recommendations, leads AML/CFT legislative reforms, and represents NZ Police across key financial crime governance and working groups.
